The winner of the second annual British Columbia Award for Canadian Non-Fiction was just announced. Congratulations to Rebecca Godfrey, author of Under the Bridge, a book which examines the 1997 murder of 14-year-old Reena Virk in Victoria. Congratulations to the three other nominees as well: J.B. MacKinnon (for Dead Man in Paradise), John Terpstra (for The Boys, or Waiting for the Electrician’s Daughter), and John Vaillant (for The Golden Spruce).
The $25,000 award is presented by the British Columbia Achievement Foundation, which last year awarded the first BC Award for Canadian Non-Fiction to Patrick Lane for his memoir There Is a Season.
